SAEDNEWS: The Guardian has accused European governments of turning a blind eye to the bombing of Iran, carried out on the basis of an unverified claim about Tehran’s nuclear ambitions.

Europe’s Silence on Iran Bombardment Exposed as Complicity in a Lie, The Guardian Reports

According to Saed News, the Guardian published a scathing analysis on Wednesday, asserting that Iran was subjected to military strikes rooted in a fabricated narrative—namely, that Tehran was converting its civilian nuclear programme into a weapons development effort. Despite the absence of corroboration from both United States intelligence agencies and United Nations inspectors, European capitals declined to condemn the attacks, the article contends, deepening a pervasive mistrust of Western intentions.

The Guardian piece argues that the unchallenged dissemination of this falsehood provided unjustified political cover for those who authorised or facilitated the strikes. Rather than scrutinising the evidentiary basis for military action, European leaders opted for strategic ambiguity, reflecting a broader pattern of deference to allied security narratives at the expense of regional stability.

Contrary to expectations of internal upheaval, the Guardian notes, Iran’s governing institutions showed remarkable resilience. Far from eroding public confidence, the bombardment appears to have galvanised domestic solidarity and bolstered nationalist sentiment. “If anything,” the report observes, “the strikes have reaffirmed popular loyalty to the state and underscored the limits of external coercion.”

By refusing to hold perpetrators to account, European states risk undermining their own credibility as defenders of international law. The Guardian concludes that without a clear repudiation of such baseless aggression, the cycle of misinformation and military escalation is likely to repeat—jeopardising both diplomatic norms and the pursuit of enduring peace.
