Iran to Halt Cooperation with IAEA, Says Supreme National Security Council

On Saturday, the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), chaired by President Masoud Pezeshkian, held a meeting where it was declared that cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will be suspended due to hostile actions by the European trio—the UK, France, and Germany.

During the session, officials reviewed regional developments and condemned the adventurism of the Zionist regime. While emphasizing Iran’s commitment to peace and stability, the Council made clear that Europe’s recent steps—pursuing the snapback mechanism despite Iran’s constructive proposals—constitute reckless hostility.

The SNSC stressed that this suspension is a legitimate defensive measure, grounded in Iran’s sovereign rights and conditional upon the Europeans refraining from coercive actions. Tehran reaffirmed its readiness to continue diplomatic consultations, but strictly in a manner that protects national security and interests.

Officials underscored that the real responsibility for the breakdown lies with Europe, which has followed Washington’s agenda, abandoning independent and good-faith diplomacy. Iran emphasized that its decision aligns with international law, as no party is bound when the other acts in bad faith, and that the snapback push undermines global non-proliferation norms.

This decisive move marks Tehran’s firm stance on safeguarding its rights while keeping the door open for responsible, constructive diplomacy.
