Saed News: Let's continue with a tour of the family tomb of Ottoman Sultan Suleiman in Istanbul, Turkey.
According to the historical section of Saed News, next to the Süleymaniye Mosque in Istanbul, there is a cemetery that contains two buildings. One of them houses the tomb of one of the most famous Ottoman sultans, Sultan Suleiman I, along with several members of his family, including Sultan Suleiman II (the 20th Ottoman sultan, who ruled from 1687 to 1691) and Sultan Ahmed II (the 21st sultan, who ruled from 1691 to 1695). Sultan Suleiman I was the 10th Ottoman sultan, also known as Suleiman the Magnificent or Suleiman the Lawgiver. He had the longest reign among the Ottoman sultans, ruling from 1520 to 1566.
The interior of the mausoleum is adorned with beautiful tilework, surrounded by verses from the Qur’an. However, the tiles and decorations are less elaborate than those in the tomb of his wife, Hürrem Sultan, which is located in the adjacent building. It’s worth noting that the beautiful Süleymaniye Mosque next to the mausoleum was built during the reign of Sultan Suleiman I and at his command.
