Was Mohammad Javad Zarif the intermediary between Iran and the U.S. in the indirect negotiations in Oman?

According to Saed News, quoting IRNA, Mohammad Javad Zarif, the former foreign minister, today on April 6, 2025 (18 Farvardin 1404), in response to various rumors regarding his involvement in the ongoing developments in the country’s foreign policy, told IRNA:

"These rumors are more like an April Fool’s joke that started early and is still going on."

Zarif further emphasized:
"I have not even seen Trump’s letter or the response to it, and I know nothing about its content other than what has been reported in the media."

In the past two weeks, there has been speculation on social media and in some media outlets about the former foreign minister's role in the ongoing discussions and processes related to indirect negotiations with the United States, all of which Zarif has denied and dismissed as false.
