Queen Elizabeth II Had 'Concerns' About King Charles' Promise to Meghan Markle

According to SAEDNEWS, On her wedding day in 2018, Meghan Markle's unusual request seemingly left Queen Elizabeth II feeling uneasy. The Queen attended the royal ceremony at St George’s Chapel with joy, but was reportedly taken aback when Meghan and Prince Harry asked then-Prince Charles to walk the bride down the aisle. This request arose after Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle, opted not to attend the wedding due to ongoing tensions with his daughter.

In her book My Mother and I, royal expert Ingrid Seward reveals the Queen's discomfort with the situation: "The Queen was not comfortable with the Prince of Wales standing in for Meghan's father, Thomas Markle, and was similarly concerned about a 96-year-old Prince Philip walking down the aisle without a stick, having had a hip replacement only five weeks before."

Conversely, Prince Harry expressed his happiness with the support his father provided during the wedding. In the documentary Prince, Son and Heir: Charles at 70, Harry shared, "I asked him to and I think he knew it was coming, and he immediately said, 'Yes, of course, I'll do whatever Meghan needs and I'm here to support you.'"

Despite the underlying tensions, the day marked a significant moment for Harry and Meghan as they celebrated their commitment to each other amidst the complexities of royal duties and family dynamics.
