Netanyahu Responds to Macron's Call for Arms Embargo on Israel

According to SAEDNEWS, In a recent development, French President Emmanuel Macron called for an "arms embargo" on Israel due to its ongoing military actions in the Gaza Strip. This statement has sparked a strong reaction from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

During a recorded interview released on Saturday, Macron emphasized the need for a political solution and urged the cessation of weapon deliveries to the region. He criticized Israel's continued military operations, describing them as a "mistake" and noted, "I think we are not being heard."

The conflict has resulted in a tragic loss of life, with reports stating that at least 41,825 Palestinians, including many women and children, have died since the military actions intensified last October.

In response to Macron's remarks, Netanyahu labeled the call for an arms embargo as a "disgrace." He insisted that Israel is fighting for its survival against multiple threats, saying, “We are defending ourselves on seven fronts against the enemies of civilization.”

As the conflict continues, Israel has also ramped up military actions against Lebanon and increased attacks in the occupied West Bank, Syria, and Yemen. Netanyahu asserted that “all civilized countries” should stand with Israel during this time of conflict, claiming that Israel’s actions are in the name of global peace and security.

He further stated that Israel would not stop its military operations until victory is achieved, regardless of external support.

In response to Netanyahu’s comments, Macron's office reiterated that France remains a "steadfast friend of Israel." Despite the ongoing conflict, France has continued to supply arms to Israel. However, according to a 2014 arms trade treaty, the French government is supposed to suspend weapon exports if it is aware of military actions against civilians.

Since the beginning of the conflict, Israel’s allies, led by the United States and Germany, have supplied considerable military aid, totaling millions of dollars.
