Ingredients for Shami Kebab:

  • 400g ground meat

  • 4 medium-sized potatoes

  • 2 medium-sized onions

  • 1 egg

  • Salt, black pepper, and red pepper to taste

  • 1 teaspoon turmeric

  • ½ teaspoon ginger powder

  • Curry powder to taste

  • Oil for frying

Instructions for Shami Kebab:

Step 1
To make a delicious Shami Kebab, first, peel and grate the potatoes. Peel and grate the onions as well. Then, place the grated potatoes and onions in a strainer, press them, and fully drain the water.

Step 2
Add the ground meat, salt, spices, and egg to the grated onion and potato mixture. Mix everything thoroughly and knead the mixture until it's smooth and even. Cover the bowl and refrigerate it for 1 to 2 hours to firm up.

Step 3
After the resting period, take the mixture out of the fridge and knead it again for a minute or two. Now, heat a pan over medium heat and add enough cooking oil for frying.

Step 4
Once the oil is hot, take a small amount of the mixture, about the size of a small tangerine, and shape it into a round or oval shape with your hands. Flatten it slightly and gently place it into the hot oil to fry.

Step 5
Arrange all the Shami Kebab patties in the pan and fry them for a few minutes over medium heat until they are fully cooked and browned. Then, carefully flip them to cook the other side.

Step 6
Once all the Shami Kebabs are cooked, place them on a serving dish and serve them with homemade or store-bought sauces, fried tomatoes, fresh herbs, pickles, saffron rice, or fresh bread. Enjoy your meal!
