SAEDNEWS: The First Vice President of the 14th government of the Islamic Republic of Iran showed green light to those Iranian athletes who emigrated from the country to return to the country.
According to SAEDNEWS, In a heartfelt statement regarding the journeys of young athletes, Mohammadreza Aref, Iran’s first vice president, emphasized the individual right of young athletes who have decided to emigrate from the country for any reason. “This is the right of the individual,” Aref affirmed, highlighting the importance of personal choice in pursuing opportunities abroad.
He also expressed the government’s commitment to supporting these athletes upon their return. “The administration of President Pezeshkian is fully prepared to accept the emigrant athletes to return to their country,” he noted, reinforcing the notion that home is always open for those seeking to come back.
Aref’s remarks were in response to a touching moment at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, where two Iranian taekwondo athletes, Nahid Kiani and Kimia Alizadeh, were caught sharing an embrace on the sidelines. This moment captured the enduring spirit of camaraderie among athletes, despite the challenges of distance and differing paths.
God willing, it is hoped that “we will witness the reverse migration,” Aref added, imagining a future where athletes who left can return to contribute to Iran's sporting landscape.
As we reflect on Aref's statements, it’s clear that the bonds of sport extend beyond borders. This open invitation for athletes to return home not only acknowledges their journeys but also emphasizes a collective dream of unity and achievement in the realm of sports. Let's support our talented youth, whether at home or abroad, and look forward to a strong future for sports in Iran.
