SAEDNEWS: Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror is 'heartbroken' after being replaced by Robert Downey Jr’s Doctor. Doom
According to SAEDNEWS, Jonathan Majors was devastated when he learned that his major role as a Marvel villain was taken over by Robert Downey Jr.
In a recent interview with TMZ, the 34-year-old actor, who was released from the franchise after a conviction for domestic violence, admitted that he was "heartbroken" by the news. He stated, "Come on, yeah, of course. I love him. I love Kang."
When questioned about the possibility of reclaiming the role, he responded immediately, "Yeah. ... If that’s what the fans want, if that’s what Marvel wants, let’s roll."
Majors had previously captivated audiences as Kang the Conqueror in "Loki" and "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania," positioning him as Marvel’s next major antagonist. However, after his assault conviction, Marvel Studios made the choice to drop him from future projects in December 2023.
At the 2024 San Diego Comic-Con, attendees were surprised to hear that Downey, formerly known for his role as Iron Man, would return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the notorious Doctor Doom.
With Downey's casting, the 2026 film initially titled “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty” has been rebranded as “Avengers: Doomsday.”
During his appearance at Comic-Con in July 2024, Downey embraced his new character, commenting, “New mask, same task. What did I tell ya? I like playing complicated characters.”
