Saed News: In the following, we take a journey to the largest and most equipped underground city in the world, which has been discovered beneath the current structure of the city of Naushabad.
According to the historical service of Saad News, the Ouyi Underground City, or Naushabad Underground City, is an ancient underground city located beneath the current structure of Naushabad, about three kilometers from Aran and Bidgol. It is situated within the historical complexes of the Chalesi Baladeh water reservoir and the central water reservoir in the village of Naushabad. This city is 1500 years old, dating back to the Sassanid era and extending through the Safavid period.
Naushabad city was the capital of King Anushirvan of the Sassanid dynasty, located in the northeast of Aran and Bidgol. The name "Naushabad" is derived from "Anushirvan," where the letter "A" was gradually dropped, leading to the name Naushabad. Additionally, due to the connection of pathways within the underground city through wells, people would use the term "Ouyi" to call each other. Because of the frequent use of the word "Ouyi," the city became known as "Ouyi."
This underground city features dense, complex, and expansive structures such as narrow labyrinthine corridors and small rooms. The Ouyi complex is formed beneath the old part of Naushabad and extends to the current city level. The vastness of this city, due to the connection between neighborhoods and the protection of the people’s lives and property during times of insecurity, is significant, spreading over both horizontal and vertical levels. This architecture in Naushabad is referred to by the term "Ouyi."
