Iran Mourns 'Martyr Mazloom': A Young Revolutionary Voice Silenced in Ardastan Strike

According to Saed News, Seyyed Omid Mazloom, one of the six individuals killed during the recent 12-day confrontation between Israel and Iran, is being remembered not just as a member of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), but as a devoted public advocate whose activism reached deep into the fabric of Iranian civil society.

The attack, which targeted the IRGC headquarters in Ardastan, claimed the lives of several key figures, including Mohsen Ghomi, Hossein Masoumi, Mohsen Zaeri, Hamza Zaeri, Seyyed Omid Mazloom, and Salar Mehrabi—martyrs now symbolically linked to what officials call the “Karbala of Resistance.”

Mazloom’s journey began in Shahid Rahbari School and Imam Khomeini High School, eventually leading him to Yasouj University to study plant pathology. As head of the university’s student Basij, he launched cultural initiatives, led humanitarian “jihadist” camps, and advocated for economic justice—most notably in efforts to reopen the Yasouj Sugar Factory and secure delayed wages for workers.

His mother, Ms. Attari, described a son deeply committed to education, faith, and bridging societal divides: “He believed in drawing all people closer to goodness, regardless of their background,” she said.

After completing IRGC training in Tehran, Mazloom returned to Ardastan, continuing his work with characteristic resolve until the fatal June 16 strike. “When they didn’t take him into the emergency room,” his mother recalled, “I knew he was gone.”

She urged the public to “follow the martyrs’ path” and remain steadfast in supporting the Velayat-e Faqih. For many, Mazloom’s death demonstrated the human toll of 12-day war—and the enduring power of grassroots leadership.
