SAEDNEWS: Demi Lovato admits guilt over problematic behaviour as child star
According to SAEDNEWS, Demi Lovato has bravely shared her feelings about the challenges of growing up in the spotlight, expressing regret over how she treated others during her early years as a child star. In a candid interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the 31-year-old singer opened up about the pressures of fame, revealing the emotional toll it took on her.
Rising to prominence at just 15 with her role in Disney's Camp Rock, Demi acknowledged that she didn’t fully comprehend the trauma associated with her stardom until later in life. “I didn't realize that child stardom could be traumatic," she confessed. While she recognizes that this experience can differ widely among individuals, for her, it was undeniably challenging. “I remember a sense of walking on eggshells,” she recalled, highlighting the mental strain that often accompanied her fame.
As she reflects on her past, Demi expresses deep remorse over her behavior, particularly during moments when her bad moods may have affected those around her. She specifically mentioned the wardrobe department staff from her TV show, stating, "I think about people in the wardrobe department on my TV show because I'd go in there in bad moods all the time." She also expressed concern for guest stars and fellow actors from Camp Rock 2, illustrating how her actions may have impacted their experiences.
While it's easy to excuse such behavior given her youth and the pain she was experiencing, Demi emphasizes that the guilt she feels is lasting. “I’m really remorseful, and that’s a guilt that stays with you forever," she admitted.
Demi's journey and reflections will be further explored in her upcoming documentary, Child Stars, scheduled for release on September 17. The documentary aims to delve into the complexities faced by child actors and features interviews with other former stars, including her Camp Rock co-star Alyson Stoner.
As Demi continues to navigate her path in the public eye, her honesty about her past serves as a reminder of the human experience behind the façade of child stardom.
