SAEDNEWS: Pakistan’s railways minister announced that the ECO freight train linking Islamabad, Tehran, and Istanbul will resume operations on December 31, emphasizing the country’s interest in expanding regional connectivity with Iran.
Pakistan’s Minister of Railways has announced that the freight train on the Islamabad-Tehran-Istanbul (ITI) route will depart from the country’s capital on December 31, 2025.
Speaking on Tuesday, December 2, to officials of the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Hanif Abbasi emphasized Pakistan’s strong commitment to enhancing regional connectivity with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
“To facilitate this goal, Pakistan Railways aims to enable rail transport by the end of the current year,” Abbasi said, urging the business community to seize the new opportunities presented by this initiative.
He added that the program to revive the Islamabad-Tehran-Istanbul ITI container train will officially begin on December 31 and underscored that leveraging this route is vital for boosting Pakistan’s regional trade.
