SAEDNEWS: The Iranian Foreign Ministry condemned the killing of dozens of unarmed civilians in the town of Kalogi in Sudan’s South Kordofan state, calling for urgent international action.
In a statement on Sunday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei strongly condemned the massacre of dozens of defenseless civilians in the Kalogi area of Sudan’s South Kordofan state.
Baqaei expressed deep regret over the international community’s silence in the face of the escalating humanitarian crisis and repeated killings of innocent people in Sudan.
He urged global actors to provide immediate humanitarian assistance to Sudanese displaced persons and take decisive steps to halt foreign interference in the country. Baqaei emphasized the need to stop the transfer of weapons to Sudanese rebels, whom he identified as the primary drivers of the ongoing conflict and crisis escalation.
Local officials reported that nearly 80 people—more than half of them children—were killed in a series of drone strikes targeting a kindergarten, a hospital, and rescue teams in southern Sudan. The paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) were blamed for the attacks.
“The attack, which occurred Thursday, involved three strikes: first the kindergarten, then the hospital, and a third time as people tried to rescue the children,” said Essam al-Din al-Sayed, head of the Kalogi administrative unit.
The UN children’s agency confirmed that more than 10 children aged five to seven were among the victims. The army-aligned Sudanese foreign ministry reported a total death toll of 79, including 43 children.
