SAEDNEWS: Iran is implementing new security measures along its borders to defend against reported escalating threats in the east and the west.
The commander of Iran’s Army Ground Forces (Artesh) announced that the country’s borders are now monitored electronically with advanced cameras and sensors, while new bases and watchtowers are being built along key frontier areas.
“Measures have also been implemented in cooperation with border guards and police to prevent unauthorized individuals, contraband, weapons, and drugs from entering the country—steps that are crucial for establishing lasting security both regionally and nationally,” Brigadier General Ali Jahanshahi told reporters.
The senior Army official also highlighted regular drills conducted by ground forces to maintain combat readiness. Reflecting on lessons learned from the recent 12-day Israeli military aggression against Iran, he added: “Following the conflict, important steps have been taken to modernize weapons and equipment and to train personnel.”
Meanwhile, Iran’s Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee convened a meeting with representatives from the Police Force, Border Guard Force, Armed Forces General Staff, and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). During the Tuesday session, the newly developed Comprehensive Border Protection Plan was reviewed and partially approved, according to the Committee’s spokesperson, Ebrahim Rezaei.
In recent months, Iran has intensified border security to block illegal migration, terrorist activity, armed bandits, and smuggled goods. Analysts say this heightened vigilance is essential, as intelligence reports suggest that Israel has stepped up cooperation with terrorist and separatist groups along Iran’s borders. During the June 12-day conflict, operatives—including some illegal immigrants—reportedly carried out missions inside Iran.
