According to Saed News’ society service, this rare condition is called dipygus. It occurs during fetal development and results in the formation of an additional, underdeveloped limb.

Most people born with this genetic condition die at birth, but Josephine was incredibly lucky to survive. She grew up to be an exceptionally sensitive and emotional girl, and her unique condition eventually led her to the circus.

People were willing to pay well to see her, and she earned $450 a week performing. Dissatisfied with her situation, she eventually met a kind doctor named James and married him. Dr. James encouraged her to leave the circus and live a peaceful life.

Together, they built a happy life and had five children. Josephine passed away in 1928 due to a skin infection that developed in one of her legs.
