SAEDNEWS: The legendary tale of Takht-e Soleyman and the Prison of Devils is captivating, but the mysterious lake facing the ruins of the Anahita Temple tells a story all its own—strange, intriguing, and impossible to ignore.
According to Saed News’ society section, a mysterious and deadly lake—where the ring of Prophet Solomon (PBUH) is said to be hidden—is one of Iran’s most enigmatic sites, located 45 kilometers northeast of Takab in West Azerbaijan Province.
This bubbling, ancient lake, thousands of years old, is rich in mineral salts, with depths reaching up to 120 meters in certain areas.
Countless stories have circulated about this lake, the most famous of which speaks of the countless treasures hidden within its depths—priceless riches cast into the waters throughout history, remaining concealed to this day.
The Legendary Treasure
Perhaps the most controversial treasure rumored to lie at the bottom of the lake is the legendary ring of Prophet Solomon (PBUH).
Folk beliefs hold that the entire Takht-e Soleyman complex was constructed by supernatural forces under Solomon’s command. According to these age-old traditions, Solomon himself wore a ring that granted him extraordinary powers.
Legends tell that during his reign, demons who cunningly stole his famous ring were punished by being cast into the mountain itself. Centuries have passed, yet locals claim that, at night, occasional wails can still be heard echoing from the mountains. To this day, villagers avoid approaching the so-called “Solomon’s Prison Mountain” after dark.
Explorations and Discoveries
German divers were the first to explore the lake. Their later reports revealed a deep chasm in the center, plunging 112 meters, as well as ten water channels around the lake’s edges. However, heavy sediment and poor visibility prevented them from uncovering any definitive traces of treasure.
Takht-e Soleyman, inscribed on both Iran’s National Heritage list and UNESCO’s World Heritage sites, remains a captivating and thrilling destination for adventurous travelers, drawing visitors eager to experience the mysteries of this legendary lake firsthand.
