Tehran Blasts Washington: ‘Stop Meddling in Our Internal Affairs!

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran has strongly condemned the U.S. Department of State’s recent statement marking the anniversary of the September 2022 riots in Iran, calling it a blatant example of America’s hostile and criminal meddling in Iran’s internal affairs, “rife with hypocrisy, deceit, and insolence.”

Iran’s Foreign Ministry emphasized that no rational or patriotic Iranian would take seriously the claims of friendship or sympathy from a regime with a long history of interference and crimes against Iran—from the shameful August 19, 1953 coup to complicity with Saddam Hussein during the imposed war and the use of chemical weapons; from the 1988 downing of an Iranian passenger plane to the imposition of cruel sanctions; and from collaborating with the Zionist regime in attacks on nuclear facilities and assassinations of Iranian scientists to the killing of Iranian women, children, and security personnel during last June’s aggression.

The Ministry highlighted that the United States, as the primary supporter of the genocidal Zionist regime—which in less than two years has massacred over 65,000 innocent people, mostly women and children—and as a government where racism and discrimination are embedded in its political culture, has no legitimacy to lecture on human rights.

Finally, Iran’s Foreign Ministry stressed that the vigilant and insightful Iranian people judge U.S. claims on human rights in the light of America’s global record of hypocrisy and criminality, particularly in West Asia. “They will never forget nor forgive the savage crimes, illegal interventions, and ongoing hostilities of the U.S. ruling establishment against our country.”
